MEDICA is Messe Düsseldorf's flagship medical trade fair, running for over four decades and drawing roughly 80,000 visitors and about 5,000 exhibitors across medical devices, imaging, health-IT, laboratory diagnostics and consumables. The 2026 edition runs 16-19 November across the Düsseldorf fairground, co-located with COMPAMED, the components and supplier show. It is a horizontal healthcare exhibition, not a supply-chain event.
For cold-chain professionals the relevance is confined to the laboratory and diagnostics halls, where specimen refrigeration, medical freezers, temperature data loggers and cold-chain packaging vendors exhibit to a hospital and diagnostics buyer base. There is no dedicated cold-chain programme, so the value is in sourcing equipment and monitoring hardware rather than GDP or distribution content. Attendance is a scouting exercise, not a logistics conference.
The floor is dominated by medical-device manufacturers, hospital and clinical procurement, distributors and health-IT vendors, with a large international buyer contingent. Cold-chain-relevant attendees are mainly lab-equipment and diagnostics suppliers plus the monitoring and packaging vendors serving them. Logistics and freight forwarders are largely absent.
