IPM Essen is the world's largest trade fair for horticulture, held annually at Messe Essen since 1983. The 2027 edition spans four product segments — plants, technology, floristry and garden features — with roughly 1,500 exhibitors from 40-plus countries and over 40,000 trade visitors. It is the primary global marketplace for the ornamental-plant and cut-flower sector.
Cut flowers and potted plants are among the most cold-chain-intensive perishables, and IPM is where growers, breeders and the post-harvest technology trade set the season's terms. The technology halls carry climate-control, post-harvest cooling and logistics equipment relevant to floriculture cold storage and refrigerated transport. Attendance signals where flower and plant volumes — and the reefer and air-freight demand behind them — are heading.
The floor is dominated by growers, breeders, nurseries, greenhouse and horticultural-technology suppliers, and floristry and retail buyers. Cold chain relevance comes from the minority of post-harvest, logistics and refrigeration specialists serving the ornamentals trade rather than a dedicated logistics audience. Seniority runs from procurement buyers to owners of grower and distribution businesses.
